![]() I'm appalled that you have hired such an incompetent waiters at such a prestigious establishment. ![]() Because to stoop to the level of ignorance would be to be ignorant. Since we are business women we tipped him regardless. The sad part is that your waiter was so busy being rude that he hasn't yet realized what he has done. You RUINED what was to be such a fantastic experience for me and my friends. TAO, I have never in my entire life been treated as poorly as I was on Saturday night, August 24, 2017. At that point I told him that it would have been nice had he offered us dessert before hastily bringing the check to which he replied" OH, OKAY" and walked off. No dessert menu, no coffee offer, no more wine, water NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. To add insult to injury, after our entrée, (with ample time left on the reservation) Kevin made sure to have our table cleared and then flung our check on the table. ![]() During the course of the next hour we had to practically wave our hands to get his attention all while we observed him laughing and giggling with the other 2 tables (one beside us and one in front of us) while he waited on them hand and foot. At some point, some 20 mins later he lack lustrely moseys over and takes our order. The excitement quickly turned sour as we were seated and watched Kevin (who we later found out would be our server) walk past our table over 15 times serving everyone else except us. We were in town in NY for my bachelorette party weekend and were all so excited to dine at your establishment. The only reason I gave this a 1 star is because we were seated despite being late for our reservation. Where do I begin?! Let me just start by saying that my girlfriends and I have NEVER been treated as poorly as were by Kevin at Tao Downtown on this past Saturday evening. Another incredible dining and entertainment experience and a big thank you to Manager Brendan McManus and his staff. Bathrooms are clean so I don't know why reviews are saying otherwise and in the many times I have come there, nothing but awesome service. As usual we went heavy with appetizers: Sea bass which is incredible, soft and delicious Wontons Lobster Lobster Egg Roll Lamb Chops to die for Shrimp For entrees: Lobster fried rice chili chicken coconut shrimp snapper fish and of course the huge dessert boat with a Happy Anniversary sign Not inexpensive but well worth it. A club like atmosphere with great music, food, ambiance and service! A dining experience that catches the breath of everyone we bring to this location (easy to get to). What a fabulous location to show to others. The price level is quite standard for Chelsea, so expect to pay around $20 for a cocktail.Celebrating our Anniversary as well as meeting with relatives who flew in from Mumbai, I contacted Manager McManus to reserve a table for 8 of us in a nice location with an excellent server and did he deliver! Albert O was our primary server and Brendan came around to check up on us during dinner.Arrive just when they open at 11pm, as the line outside quickly builds up after midnight. It can be tricky to get in on weekends, even if you’re dressed up and with a group of girlfriends, so I would recommend that you get in touch with a good promoter and make sure to get your name on the guest list. ![]() If you start your night at the restaurant, you can enter the nightclub from within (if you get past the bouncers), but if you only come for the club, you’ll have to use a separate entrance around the corner from the main entrance to the restaurant, and this is the spot I’ve marked on the map below. The club is located one stair down and it’s so intimate and dark, it almost feels like a speak-easy. A lot of people don’t even know there’s a nightclub, as it is tucked away in the corner of the huge Tao complex, away from the dining area. Now please note that it’s the nightclub and not the restaurant/lounge I’m talking about. I think you can say that Tao is good looks without the attitude. Not because the club is full of old cougars, but because it’s a really cool place with a non-pretentious, yet super-chic vibe that I haven’t found at any other place in this part of the city. However, the nightclub at Tao Downtown is an exception. Clubbing in Chelsea is fun when you are in your 20s, but nowadays, I feel too old for most of the venues.
